Saas Fee Race and Ski Development Camp

Race training and piste performance training for advanced racers and ski instructors

 

Saas fee glacier is situated in the car free idyllic resort of Saas Fee. Multiple training slopes of varying pitches and lengths make it a top destination for the world's most elite skiers and athletes. A unique opportunity to train on the same piste as some of the best skiers of our generation! This camp is developed for the serious skier who wants to arrive ready for their exams or races at the start of the season.

Camp info:

Weekly: 6 days on snow. 4 hours of training per day minimum. mix of SL/GS and freeski

Afternoon active recovery, hiking, stretching, ski tuning **

 

**Each week will include training days with professional timing kit to track progress and daily video feedback either on the hill or back at the bottom of resort.

Max 7 athletes per coach

You can come for a few days or book an entire week depending on your needs.

Training fee per 6 day training week (training only): 360 euros (60 euros per day)

 

Training fee if only training daily: 70 euros per day (minimum 4 hours on snow).

**Each training camp week has a minimum participant requirement of 3 athletes. In the rare event we must cancel a camp because we don't have enough participants, you will be refunded in full or we will offer to move you to another week that has already been confirmed. You of course can decline this change and still take the refund...but we will do everything in our power to give you options!**

​

Costs not included in training fee:

Lift pass: check Saas Fee website for pricing. If you have a Saastal Card you receive a discount on your lift pass. Also active ISIA members of instructor organisations may be entitled to a small discount - best to enquire with the lift ticket office on their website before arrival. 

​

Accommodation:

There are multiple hotels that do a half board (breakfast and dinner) offer for athletes at around 110 CHF per night. Please stay tuned for more details on this. 

​

**Important note: If booking your own accommodation not through the camp hotel, check to be sure your accommodation is close to the Alpin Express Gondola where we will depart each morning. There are no busses in resort so the farther away from the gondola the farther you must walk!

​

Food not included in training fee and to be determined on site (possibility to get food on the hill during lunchtime if you wish)

Equipment needed (Please let us know if you need any kit -it might be possible to find a cheaper solution than to buy new):

Back protector (recommended)

FIS SL ski (recommended but if not possible at least a ski with a radius of 11-13m)

GS Ski (radius of 18-24m minimum)

Slalom tibia protection + helmet with removable guard (mandatory)

Forearm protection for GS (recommended)

GS catsuit (recommended) + training shorts

Boot bag

Storm coat (for bad weather days – or an oversized rain coat)

Regular ski clothing

Water bottle

**Helmets and separate ski insurance are compulsory for all athletes**

 

Daily structure of camp: arrive to glacier before opening every morning to put on boots while coach sets gates. Freeski warmup and action plan for the day. Break at halfway point in training. Continue skiing gates or freeski depending on needs. Finish training day, put away kit, return to base camp in early afternoon. Afternoon sessions consist of stretching, sightseeing/hiking, proprioception activities, active recovery, ski tuning, rest in function with needs and energy levels of athletes.**

**All training is subject to weather, and resort openings (out of the control of the camp organiser - although we will always do our best to find a plan). 

​

Important information: This is not a beginner ski camp. For those who are new to racing we can adapt to ease you into it - but you must be prepared to be brave and try new things! 

​
